Currently: We’re nestled in this odd (but strangely comfortable) tension between winding down and gearing up as the sun sets on 2015. The holiday rush has tapered off, we’re coming to a landing on our Home Is campaign, and the weeks ahead are sprinkled with days off...and then this week we released our biggest bundle of new products of the year in preparation for 2016. So it goes!
- Feasting on this Beet Pesto Pizza by The Roasted Root. This pizza might be the most simultaneously beautiful + delicious + healthy + indulgent thing we’ve ever seen! The deep magenta of that beet pesto would’ve probably been enough motivation for us to make this recipe, but then there’s the roasted goat cheese and now we really can’t say no. We’re making it for dinner this weekend and then draping an over-easy egg on a slice for an easy brunch the next morning.

Reflecting on the Syrian refugee crisis and the plight of innocent Muslims around the world who are simply looking for normalcy and peace - a safe place to make home, go to work, and raise their children. Amidst all the fear swirling around the threat that arises with open borders, we’re inspired and humbled by the clear-headed kindness and bravery of Chancellor Angela Merkel, TIME’s Person Of The Year, and the call she made to her German citizens.
“At a moment when much of the world is once more engaged in a furious debate about the balance between safety and freedom, the Chancellor is asking a great deal of the German people, and by their example, the rest of us as well. To be welcoming. To be unafraid. To believe that great civilizations build bridges, not walls, and that wars are won both on and off the battlefield.” -TIME
When we let these acts of terrorism cause division, hardness, and inhumanity among us, we allow evil to take an inch and run a mile. It does nothing to solve the problem. Fear-mongering and hatred towards a group of people for their (perceived) religious, racial, or sexual identity has been the pernicious prequel to almost every act of targeted mass violence in our history. We pray for the courage to build bridges and not walls.
Inspired by the simplicity of these Christmas decorations rooted in Danish design. ‘Tis the season and we’re all looking for ways to bring the festivity into our homes - we love how a few branches of winter foliage can transform a space without fuss.
